Kendaka

The organisation, founded in 2019, is dedicated to the up-cycling of glass, plastic and textiles; at the same time, it enables a better integration of women into the world of work in the heart of the city of Badr.

Quality products made from waste

Beyond the traditional recycling, the idea is to give another life to discarded items - glass, plastic bags and fabric scraps - which thus find a new function and from the rubbish collected here and there, become artistic products of great quality, which testify to the innovative skill of those who make them.

Honouring women’s creativity

It is above all a question of developing human potential, enabling women to become aware of the impact they can have on society, but also of the capacities they have, while guaranteeing them a comfortable working environment adapted to their needs.

Our work started in 2021…

2021, October-November:

  • Catherine comes to visit us at LFC and presents the organisation and its products.

  • Very rapidly we set up a glass collection at LFC. The well-filled boxes are regularly transported to Badr City.

2022

  • February:

For 4 consecutive days, a group of volunteers participate in a training workshop.

  • March:

Together with Kendaka who runs a stand, we participate in the forum organised by the French Institute of Egypt on the theme of sustainable cities.

  • May:

As part of a campaign to raise awareness about the protection of the Red Sea, a one-day workshop is held to produce, in part, a collection in the colours of Red Sea Project.

  • Meanwhile, we encourage the making of plastic balls from recycled bags in the school library.
